Our Imagine LA Family had an exciting summer kickoff event at the LA Zoo, thanks to our friends at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Imagine LA Families and their mentors were able to spend a special day enjoying such activities as face painting, an artist drawing caricatures, a live DJ, and learning about the many animals living in the zoo.
Alumni families and mentors came back together for a day of food, fun and games at the Westchester Recreation Center Park for the 2nd Annual Imagine Tomorrow Alumni Homecoming BBQ. Imagine LA hosts this signature event for the Imagine Tomorrow Alumni Association as an opportunity for graduated families and their mentors to come together in a fun, family-friendly day of activities and good times
More than 500 friends of Imagine LA gathered at the very hip, cool nightclub, Bootsy Bellows in the West Hollywood for the 3rdAnnual Imagine Ball. Hosted by Actor/Comedian Tony Rock guests enjoyed music by pop artist Natasha Bedingfield, Nico & Vinz and longtime Imagine Ball favorites, rock band Brave Native for an amazing night of fun dancing and giving back.
In 2008, Imagine LA matched Arlene and her three children, Karen, Dontay and Dareyn with a Mentor Team from Bel Air Presbyterian Church. At the time, Arlene was unemployed, dangerously obese, and in recovery for addiction. One of her children was in and out of foster care and juvenile hall;

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a pilot project that will provide intensive mentorship for 10 to 15 Transition-Age Foster Youth (TAYs) with young children for a period of two years after they exit the foster system.

Imagine LA families had a fun Sunday afternoon at Mar Vista Park filled with bounce houses, sack races, games, and chowing down on delicious barbecue and homemade desserts.
Cedars-Sinai volunteers - lead by Nirusha Ernest, Connie Butterfuss, and Tammie Park - came to the event early to prep fifty backpacks filled with back-to-school items such as notebooks, folders, writing utensils, water bottles, plus a lovely handwritten card. Each Imagine LA child received one of these backpacks, according to their grade level.
