Tara Ignont is Imagine LA's Program Director. Tara joined the staff in early January of 2015. She manages the execution of the Family Empowerment and Mentorship model which includes outreaching to existing or new faith communities, the business community, and past volunteers of the program. She also oversees recruiting of volunteers, the Alumni Program, as well as assists with website management and distribution of marketing.
Tara graduated Cum Laude from the University of the Pacific with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Sociology, and Minor in Ethnic Studies. She then earned a Master of Social Work with honors from the University of California where she received the Order of Arete. The award represents the highest honor accorded to graduated students for demonstrating significant depth and scope of responsibility in a campus or community leadership role.
Originating from Oakland, CA, Tara has always been involved with community uplift and mentoring youth, while serving at her local church. Tara now participates in different volunteer opportunities where she mentors first generation college students and facilitates life skills workshops. In her several years of experience in the social service field Tara has experience working with underprivileged communities as a therapist at Families in New Directions, group facilitator at the Alcoholism Center for Women, an academic learning assistant in the University of Southern California's Athletic Department, and outreach coordinator at the University of the Pacific Women's Resource Center.
Tara enjoys reading, writing, finding new places to eat, attending concerts and spending time with friends and family.
