Examining the Complex Safety Net - Webinar with USC Price Center

After releasing our Report about the social safety net with the USC Sol Price Center three months ago, in January 2022 Imagine LA co-hosted a live webinar with USC to discuss its findings and the possible solutions to the issues at hand.

The gathering included a diverse round table of experts, policy makers, entrepreneurs, and an Imagine LA Family Ambassador, and a deep and informative conversation about how this groundbreaking research can be used to support families living in poverty in Los Angeles.

In her opening remarks, LA County Supervisor Holly Mitchell said, “If we all acknowledge that every family wants the same for their children then we'll take a huge step towards equity and justice for all families in LA.”

Imagine LA President & CEO, Jill Bauman, reinforced our mission, saying, “It’s one thing to get families a home but another to get them out of poverty. That's why we're committed to end both.”

Family Ambassador Leilani Reed put it best when asked, “How do we move forward towards solving these [housing] issues?” She responded with, “We need more seats at the table – and to keep fighting because when we fight, we win.”

Thank you to Gary Painter and Soledad de Gregorio for their hard work and to our panelists: Antonia Jimenez, Jacqueline Chun, Wendy Garen, Brit Moore Gilmore, Abigail Marquez, Lisa Salazar, Jon Vein, and Kelvin Driscoll for their insights.
