Celebration of Family: Kicking off Summer with Imagine LA Families

Our Celebration of Family event was a true extravaganza, transforming the courtyard of First Congregational Church in Los Angeles into a vibrant carnival. Fluffy cotton candy, refreshing shaved ice provided by Los Angeles Shave Ice Truck, savory breakfast burritos from Burrito Break, and roving entertainers greeted our families as they entered.

To help celebrate Mother’s Day, parents were treated to massages, self-care item giveaways from Josie Maran & Shelter Partnerships, and bunches of flowers.

Pony rides offered an unforgettable experience for the children, allowing them to feel a sense of adventure and connection with animals.

Art stations and face painting stations encouraged creativity and self-expression, giving kids an outlet to showcase their talent and imagination.

But the fun didn't stop there! The bouncy house obstacle course and carnival games ensured hours of fun, and all attendees made memories in a 3D photo booth provided by 360 Photo Booth LA. Thanks to Mattel Children's Foundation & Build-A-Bear Foundation, kids took home exciting prizes to play with all summer long!

This year’s celebration also featured a book giveaway. As schools closed their doors for the summer break, this initiative aimed to encourage children to continue reading and exploring new worlds through books. With an assortment of age-appropriate titles, kids eagerly selected their favorite stories, igniting a love for reading that would accompany them throughout the summer.

Beyond the laughter and merriment, the Celebration of Family event brought together the formerly unhoused families we serve for a day of pure joy, celebration, and connection. Through activities and giveaways, the event provided an immersive experience that brought smiles to the faces of both children and adults.

This incredible event showcased the importance of community, compassion, and understanding. We are so grateful to our donors and sponsors for helping us foster a positive environment were families could rebuild their lives and envision a brighter future.
