Lucia was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, where she began dancing Ballet Folklórico and performing in regional Musical Theater at a very young age.  She later moved out to Los Angeles to study Musical Theater at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, where she earned a BFA.  With many years of dance training and education under her belt, Lucia has made Los Angeles her professional dance home, teaching hundreds of lessons and classes in Ballroom, Latin, and Nightclub styles.  She has competed and won top awards in  American Rhythm and American Smooth at the People’s Choice DanceSport Competition in Arizona, and recently won 2nd in Rising Star Just Salsa at the World Salsa Summit in Miami, FL. 

She continues to compete and coach award-winning students at local and national Salsa and Ballroom competitions.  You can currently find her teaching workshops and weekly Salsa group classes in The Valley, or volunteering her time at Homeboys, teaching dance to individuals who are putting in the work to improve their position in society after living life in a gang. Giving back to the community is very important to Lucia, and she is delighted to be a part of the Dancing with Imagine LA Stars!
