Missouri Place

An Affordable & Supportive Housing Community

Imagine LA is a nonprofit organization that works with families emerging from homelessness and low-income families to end the cycle of family poverty and homelessness, equip families to maintain housing stability, and ensure long-term thriving. Our Family Partnership Model transforms lives through a unique combination of clinical case management, economic mobility programming, and whole-family mentorship. We served 275 families in 2022 and aim to serve 300+ families in 2023. Unpartnered women lead 86% of our families, and 84% identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. Nearly two-thirds of our families live in South LA or at the Missouri Place Supportive Housing Community in West LA.

At Imagine LA, we know that homes end homelessness and effective interventions can prevent homelessness in the first place.

That’s why, in 2019, we established a partnership with Thomas Safran & Associates (TSA) to pair affordable housing with our Family Partnership Model to ensure that low-income families and families emerging from homelessness have the resources and support they need to establish pathways to financial stability.

The Missouri Place Affordable & Supportive Housing Community in West Los Angeles, which broke ground in January 2020, will house 73 such families. This TSA development will exclusively serve low-income families. Forty-four units are designated as Permanent Supportive Housing: affordable housing with on-site supportive services for families who are emerging from homelessness. Twenty-nine units are reserved for low-income families.

When the development opens in early 2022, Imagine LA will become the on-site service provider for all 73 families. The 44 PSH residents will enroll in Imagine C.A.R.E. and all residents will gain access to Imagine LA’s network of resources, signature family fun events and Grab & Go Supplies Distributions, financial wellness programming, living-wage careers pathways, whole-family mentorship, and a year-round calendar of enrichment activities for all ages.

The development itself will feature on-site parking and a central community space, which will include a kitchen, management offices, office space for Imagine LA staff, a library, a computer lab, and a fitness center.

Missouri Place is just the first of four TSA permanent supportive housing developments for families being built where Imagine LA will be the supportive services provider.
