Sector Leadership & Advocacy - 2023 Q1 Report
Imagine LA is proud to use our voice and platform to advance meaningful action, collaboration, and change around family poverty and homelessness at the local, state, and national levels.
Here’s just a sampling of our 2023 Q1 activity:
PRESENTATIONS
Social Benefit Navigator (SBN) co-founders Jill Bauman and Brit Moore Gilmore presented SBN demos to eight potential nonprofit and government agency partners.
LOCAL LEADERSHIP
Staff and volunteers participated in the Greater LA Homeless Count.
With our partner the United Way of Los Angeles, we signed a letter in support of the Grace Villas affordable housing development.
We endorsed a letter to the mayor in support of Right To Counsel for Keep LA Housed Coalition.
STATEWIDE LEADERSHIP
With our partner Housing California, we signed a state budget request letter to build and maintain affordable housing in L.A.
With our partner Inner City Law Center, we signed support letter for Zoning Law SB 4, which will allow for the development of affordable housing on higher education and faith lands.
Signed a letter urging Governer Newsom & legislature to address the child care crisis in support of our partner The Children's Movement.
With our partner Mentor National, we signed a support letter for SB 409 - advocating for federal funding for Youth Mentoring.
NATIONAL LEADERSHIP
Signed letter of support of National Coalition for the Homeless & LAHSA for compensation for lived experiences advocacy services within the homeless services system.
Signed on to the Alliance’s Statement of Principles Against the Criminalization of Homelessness
With our partner the Domestic Violence Services Coalion, we sent a support letter for lived experience advocacy compensation to not impact Federal SSI.
ONLINE ADVOCACY
In addition to the above, we promoted campaigns on social media that aligned with our mission.
